So, to be honest I got so busy with work that I forgot about this blog. The horror!!!!
So, I survived my first Christmas at the store, but just barely. I’m feeling more confident in my role as a SS, to the point that I get frustrated when I can’t set things up “my way.” Not that I’m being all power hungry at all (I love shifts where I’m not the CC), but I can also see situations where the store is spinning out of control, I can see how to fix it, but I can’t!
BOGO? No probs. I’m getting those down to a science.
What else? I’m diving back into my Coffee Master. I’ll finish it out on my own if I must, and it looks like that is the best plan. Been working hard on though, and having fun.
My SM has started training me on some managerial stuff like how to process payroll and write a schedule. She wants to be sure that when I do get placed in a store, I have a good idea as to what’s going on. She’s not letting me loose or anything, but she did let me do the chaining sequence for this week’s schedule! It really helps me understand how labour works better too, which only makes me a better and more efficient shift.
I did the last full physical inventory count almost entirely on my own! That was fun…my head was spinning with numbers by the end of the night, but it was a good feeling to see those 40 pages of scribbles neatly organized into strings of numbers. I feel really good about my accuracy too - check and double check!!!!
It’s been slow around the store, but it is kinda nice to have space to breathe at night again. Although, I will say that we were rarely getting out late this holiday season, which considering the craziness we dealt with at night was a miracle.
Long story short, I’m still having fun and still learning! I can’t wait for some of the things that are coming my way in the next few weeks…bring it on!
